LAB FACILITIES
There are 5 laboratories in the department namely
- Hematology lab
- Clinical physiology lab
- Amphibian lab
- Mammalian lab
- Research lab
Each lab has a facility to accommodate 75 students at a time.
HEMATOLOGY LAB
The hematology lab is where the 1st MBBS students conduct hematology tests like RBC count, WBC count, Differential Leucocyte count, hemoglobin estimation, blood grouping and typing etc, as part of their hematology practical sessions.
CLINICAL PHYSIOLOGY LAB
The clinical physiology lab and mammalian lab is utilized for practical sessions concerned with examination of the various systems namely, Cardiovascular system, Respiratory system, Nervous system.
RESEARCH LAB
We have a research lab with state of the art facility comprising of equipments and instruments like Polygraph, Spirometer, Perimeter, Physiograph, Ergometer etc. We encourage undergraduate students and faculties to undertake research activities in basic medical science.
DEMONSTRATION ROOM
There is demonstration room with a seating capacity of 75 students with audio visual aids to engage the students during practical sessions, clinical demonstrations, small group teachings, case scenario based discussions.
DEPARTMENTAL LIBRARY
There is a library within the department with around 100 textbooks (physiology and clinical subjects) which is being used by the students and the faculties for reading.
ACADEMIC SESSION:
Every academic year 100 undergraduate students will be trained effectively by
- Interactive Lectures taken in spacious, well lit and aerated lecture hall with required AV facility
- Practicals (Haematology + Clinical Examination + OSPE + OSCE)
- Small-Group Teaching Sessions
- Student Symposium
- Self Directed Learning
- Integrated Teaching with other Departments
- Early Clinical Exposure – First MBBS students will be introduced to the patients and various Clinical Departments
- Problem Based Learning
- Formative and Summative assessments
- Role-play
- AETCOM (Attitude, Ethics and Communication)
The candidates will be periodically assessed by Internal Assessments (Theory & Practicals). The performance of the First MBBS students will be intimated to their Parents / Guardians periodically.
Extracurricular activities and sports activities of the students will also be encouraged and guided by the Faculties.
ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE:
The 1st batch of MBBS -100 students admitted in February 2022 completed the Tamilnadu Dr.MGR Medical University Examinations held in January – February 2023 and have secured 100% pass in Physiology with 9 Distinctions and 3 Honors.
The 2nd batch of MBBS – 100 students admitted in November 2022 are pursuing their course in Physiology currently.
ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES
3 students (1st year MBBS, 2021 batch) participated and represented our college at the state level undergraduate quiz competition held at Government Medical College, Sivagangai.
6 students (1st year MBBS, 2022 batch) participated and represented our college at the state level undergraduate quiz competition (NEXUS’23) held at Government Medical College, Thiruvallur.
4 students (1st year MBBS, 2022 batch) represented our college in state level E-Concept Mapping competition held at KMCH Institute of Health Science & Research, Coimbatore (EMOTICON’23).
